Before the Day Begins
Watercolor on cold press, 8”x12”, 2025
This piece was inspired by a quiet moment on the morning of my friend’s wedding. In a room full of women getting ready, doing hair, makeup, and dressing in fancy dresses. I was struck by the contrast of movement and stillness. Amid the joyful chaos, this simple table of cut fruit caught the morning light. This painting captures that fleeting moment of calm: the sweetness before the celebration.
Preliminary Value Study
Captivated by the dynamic light that bathed my tulips each morning, I wanted to paint this playful scene. This painting is a thanksgiving of everyday beauty, a gentle reminder of how light transforms the ordinary into something sacred.

Grandma’s Greenhouse
Acrylic, “22x30”, 2025
In each painting, I begin to grow in my practice. With this one in particular it was my objective to understand light within a physical space and the interaction that local color plays in depicting that.
This greenhouse resides in the Wisconsin countryside. I found it attending an outdoor garden and art show with my Mom. The enchanting scene offered visual oasis through the framing of the trees and the inviting open doors.
